American Hiking Society / State Hiking Resources — State-by-state guide to local resources, including state parks, national forests and national parks in each state.

American Hiking Society / Alliance Members — State-by-state listing of organizations “working to maintain footpaths, conserve trail lands and protect the hiking experience,” including hiking clubs, trail conferences, land trusts, conservation groups, and others with an interest in hiking trails.

Bureau of Land Management — Click on any state in the map, then click on Visit Us -> Recreation Resources.

Colorado Mountain Club — Group hikes, skills courses, school/kid programs, books, calendars.

Colorado State Parks

National Park Service

National Wildlife Refuge System — Click on the map or search by ZIP code. Not all refuges have hiking trails, but many do.

Recreation.gov — Single portal to information about federal recreational activities and reservations (campgrounds, wilderness permits, etc.); allows you to search based on what you want to do, not by agency.

U.S. Forest Service — Recreation and volunteer resources.
